New to Medicare?

NEW To Medicare? Presented by Will St George, CT Certified CHOICES Counselor

Are you turning or just turned 65?  Are you age 65 or greater, still working, and planning to retire?  Have you recently received a Medicare Card in the mail?  Have you become eligible for Medicare for other reasons?

 The introduction will explain the different parts of Medicare, the basics of coverage and costs, premiums, avoiding premium penalties, preventive services, durable medical equipment, diabetic supplies, drug and vaccine coverage, and much more.  Special topics will include: applying for Medicare, common pitfalls and solutions, comparison of three fundamental coverage strategies, federal online tools and information, enrollment and enrollments periods, how Medicare works with other insurance. The presentation summary and a list of Resources are provided, and free Medicare publications are available.

About the CT CHOICES Program: CHOICES provides free unbiased benefits counseling on all parts of Medicare, including Original Medicare (Parts A and B), Medicare Advantage (Part C), Medicare Supplemental Insurance, and Prescription Drug Coverage (Part D).

CHOICES recruits and trains a workforce of staff, in-kind professionals, and volunteers who provide counseling and assistance at accessible locations throughout the state.  Program Team Members are trained to consistently and confidentially provide comprehensive and objective information.
