Healthy Soil, Healthy Plants, Healthy People with Little Ark Farm

Join Paul and Nina Lukens founders of Little Ark Farm, a certified organic market garden here in Enfield.

The past 40 years have seen major breakthroughs in our understanding of plant and soil biology. This science is so new that the ink’s still wet on the papers and certainly hasn’t made it into high school textbooks yet. Discover what recent research tells us about how plants get their nutrients and fight diseases and the role microscopic allies play, and learn how a microscope can help you leverage this new science in your own garden and yard.

After the discussion, Nina and Paul will do a live demonstration with their digital microscope and some of their own compost. Bring samples of your own turf, garden soil, or compost so we can compare and analyze soil life up close together!

Paul and Nina Lukens have been digging in the dirt together for nearly 40 years, gardening together for nearly 20, and working this land together for 10, all while juggling off-farm work and homeschooling our five kids. We love what we do.
