Susan Pelton is an advanced master gardener through UConn, she worked at the UConn Home & Garden Education Center for 8 years. This is her first year as the coordinator for the Enfield Community Gardens and she is enjoying visiting the five sites and working with the gardeners who range in age from 8 to 80+.
Susan has a home garden and has been canning and pickling produce from it for many years. Since so many gardens are producing cucumbers, green beans, and basil she will be making a batch of pesto from fresh basil and other ingredients. She will also demonstrate some simple pickling procedures and share tips and tricks. The programs are not a certified food preservation class.
