In celebration of Women’s History Month Mariann Millard’s presentation will educate and entertain on the topic of “unsung or forgotten heroines” in the US and around the world for their individual contributions. Most people would be hard-pressed to be name the woman who used her analytical thinking to get the ball rolling with computer programming, or the woman who has saved countless other women's lives around the world with a relatively simple, yet critical invention. For the women presented, their personal stories tell a tale of perseverance and single-minded purpose to employ their craft, skill and knowledge, often against many odds and barriers. Many of the women featured would have considered themselves just "ordinary" women, ones who simply didn't take "no" for an answer, confident they were on the right path, even if that path would never be recognized until now. This is a chance to acknowledge and admire these amazing women for what they achieved and why they did so. The program is designed to be lively, humorous and engaging.
Mariann Millard, is a world traveler and the tour director of Meander with Mariann. She has given many talks in libraries on a variety of topics.
